How Blessed I Am!
It was so much fun…and of course, by your seventh baby, you need new stuff, right?
But much more wonderful than all the sweet, pink gifts I received, was the blessing of having a circle of ladies around me who love me, love children, and love the celebration of a full quiver. A stark contrast from the reception I receive from many other places.
This is the essence of the Titus 2 command…the older (and younger) women teaching each other to “love their children”…to embrace them and prepare a loving home for them. They are excited–even jubilant at every announcement of new life. And when a new child is born, the entire church body stands and commits to assisting the parents with the godly rearing of that child. What a blessing!!!
This is generational vision at its best…because as I was being showered by these ladies celebrating the new life in my womb, my daughters, and their daughters, were right there soaking in all the joy and anticipation of motherhood. They perceive children as a blessing, never a burden.
That’s the joy of a fruitful vine…olive shoots around our table, and a man whose quiver is full of arrows.
Praise God for His infinite blessing!

How awesome! How blessed you are! I find it so sad that churches give showers for first babies only. In my eyes it really devalues the life of number 2 or number 8 by emphasising number 1 so much. No matter if you still have all the baby “stuff” in working order…all babies need diapers!
So…you know it’s a girl…are you revealing her name? : )
Hugs,
Carmen
This makes my heart warm.
Thank you for sharing this.
We have had two babies within my old church, born within the last week. One was a first child and the other was a second. Both women were showered, and I LOVED that.
How wonderful to have a church family that will bless you and your little one in your 7th, 8th, etcetera birth!
Carmen…I may just leave it a surprise for my blogging friends…that would build more suspense, huh
That is great! On the days that my second and third children were born, our pastor told my husband that maybe we should wait a while before having any more.
I know what you mean. The ladies in our church gave me a baby shower for my 7th child too. He will be 1 year old on October 3rd.
That is SO cool! It sounds like you have an awesome church family!
I hope the last few weeks of pregnancy go well for you.
How sweet. When most of the ladies in our current church found out I was expecting #3 in 3 years most of the comments were of the ‘you know where those are coming from, right?’ and ‘you poor thing!’ and ‘your hands will be full now!’ (to which I replied ‘better full than empty! since we were infertile for years prior to my firstborn).
There were a couple of little old ladies who hugged me and told me ‘congratulations’. Don’t know if they were being serious or just raised in a time when Emily Post would have been horrified at the aforementioned remarks.
I am thrilled. Exhausted but thrilled. My specialist told my husband to take up a hobby like fishing in about 12 years. LOL. At least they’ll have somebody to talk about/to when I’m planted as I’m essentially an only child.
How blessed you are, Kelly! But of course you already know it
Wishing you a smooth and easy birth! Hope both you and your littlest blessing are well.
how wonderful! EACH LIFE ought to be celebrated, i agree.
and prayers and hugs for the upcoming week. i can’t wait to see pics of the new baby!
What a blessing to have such a great church family. Every baby is a miracle and should be celebrated — no matter what “number” it is or how long it took to conceive. EACH baby is a blessing:-) Praying for you and your soon-to-be born baby!!!
P.S. Love your blog – just found it a month or so ago.
