A True Valentine Legacy
A friend sent me a link to the following story about a family where all seven children have actually stayed married to their first spouses their whole lives!
An inspiring and important legacy!
“Newlyweds could probably learn a few things from the five Estes sisters and their two brothers, who collectively have lived through 391 years of marriage.”

“Coontz, who has studied marriage trends for 25 years, said many marriages that began in the 1950s ended as more women entered the work force in subsequent decades. That wasn’t an issue for the Estes siblings; all the wives were homemakers.”
How come profesionals can say it and get away with it, but when we say that it’s bad for the family for wives to work we get ridiculed?
I really enjoyed this article. You are so right, what a legacy!
What an inspiring story! And ditto to what Ashley S. said!
Hi Kelly,
That was a great article…in fact I had copied the exact quote that ashley s. did and was about to post it on here, but no need anymore!
It is very interesting that a person who has studied marriage for 25 years admits that a reason that many marriages that began in the 50′s ended in divorce was because both spouses were working. I’m sure this reasoning hasn’t changed much today! It just goes to show that God is so much wiser and all-knowing than we are, He didn’t create different roles for men and women just so that He could watch us argue about them 1,000′s of years later
He has always known what is BEST.
I have been repeating that to myself lately- “God knows what is best for me/my family.” This is really helping me through some challenging times, to recognize that in ALL THINGS God knows what is best for me, and beyond that- He always gives me what is best. One area that I have had some struggles in is wanting a baby and each month when I realized that I was not pregnant I would almost become depressed or something, but now I can repeat this truth to myself and really believe it- God knows what is best, God always gives me what is best, and that I don’t want anything except God’s best for me (and He alone knows what that is)
Oh well…I got a little off track! I suppose the quote just made me think of how God has always known what is best in every area- and I am so glad that He does!

Oh, how wonderful! I can’t wait to read their story. What a blessing and joy it is to know that there are families like this around still!
Praise God for His goodness.
