You’re Gonna Want to Read This…
Take a deep breath…you’re going to want to think about this one!
“What if Your Baby is Gay”….that’s the name of the article Al Molher has addressed (see link below). Apparently, scientists are on the brink of discovering hormones that could be administered to pregnant moms to thwart tendencies their unborn baby may have toward homosexuality.
There are so many questions on EVERY level of this issue…for the conservative Christians, and for the extreme liberals.
Read it. It’s not that long, and it’s very helpful to think through some of the points made…for example, don’t we (conservatives) kind of shun the idea that sexual oritentation could have biological roots? Like if scientists discover that homosexuality is something a person is born with, we would just have to throw our biblical tenets out the window?
But why? Some people are born with a much higher propensity to commit adultry…or steal, or lie, or be alcoholics, etc. We are fallen…but that does not eradicate God’s judgement on prescribed sinfulness.
Another issue the article brings up–which is most interesting to think about…
If the hard-core liberal, pro-choice, gay-rights people are, indeed all about CHOICE, then they should be OK with a mother who chooses to take a hormone that will thwart her baby’s tendency toward homosexuality, right? No, this is not a choice they’re happy about. After begging for biologial proof to finally “set them free”, it may have backfiring effects. It’s OK to abort an unwanted baby, they say, but they are drawing the line at tampering with its sexual orientation! Because to do so would mean that the mother is still not allowing her baby to “be what he is”, which is the same as saying that homosexuality is not “normal”…what a tangled web we weave!

Very interesting Kelly. I have a family member who has gay tendencies. Meaning, he is TEMPTED to be gay. But you know what? He CHOOSES to be straight because he loves God. So I do believe some people naturally are tempted but it’s like you said, they can choose to obey God instead (like an alcoholic or other type of sinner) I don’t know what to think about the hormone yet…. that one is baffling!
