The Only Thing About Parenting That Matters-Part 1

John McArthur gave a compelling sermon on the radio this morning when I was out and about…I must blog :-)

All the little people you see running around–in your own house, at the grocery store, at the ball park–they are going to be leading this nation in about 25 years.

I know, scary isn’t it.

Our culture, in a word, is so short-sighted and self-absorbed that we are breeding our own detriment, and teaching our children to do the same. Basically, in order that we get what we want NOW, we have lost sight of the future, of the importance of investing in the lives of those who will hold us up in a few short years.

We’ve discussed here before how the value of children, of human life in general, has declined over the years. If it were not so, we wouldn’t be trying to prevent more children, and keep away from the ones we already have as much as possible.

The birth control and the abortion industry are two of the most prolific, money-making businesses alive…puns not intended. Why? Because human life is not valued.

And this is a big problem–here’s why:

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

A terrible cycle has spun our world’s youth out of control. Now the government is trying to “re-moralize” the children, failing miserably. The church whisks children away to try to teach them what their parents are not, and on goes the continual failure of the family, ultimately destroying the nation.

I’ve heard people say, “we place too much emphasis on the family”.

Excuse me? That’s the same as saying, “you know, the heart is really overrated” in reference to the body!

As goes the family, so goes the nation.

To be continued tomorrow…

Such sobering thoughts. This message is needed almost (notice I said almost) as much as the good news of Jesus saving grace. Jesus is always needed first.
