Gratitude
The words to Gratitude grip my heart each time I hear them…“Oh dear Father teach me to be grateful for what You give me, and may I stop looking at what I think I need.”
Send some rain, would You send some rain?
‘Cause the earth is dry and needs to drink again
And the sun is high and we are sinking in the shade
Would You send a cloud, thunder long and loud?
Let the sky grow black and send some mercy down
Surely You can see that we are thirsty and afraid
But maybe not, not today
Maybe You’ll provide in other ways
And if that’s the case . . .
(Chorus)
We’ll give thanks to You
With gratitude
For lessons learned in how to thirst for You
How to bless the very sun that warms our face
If You never send us rain
Daily bread, give us daily bread
Bless our bodies, keep our children fed
Fill our cups, then fill them up again tonight
Wrap us up and warm us through
Tucked away beneath our sturdy roofs
Let us slumber safe from danger’s view this time
Or maybe not, not today
Maybe You’ll provide in other ways
And if that’s the case . . .
(Chorus)
We’ll give thanks to You
With gratitude
A lesson learned to hunger after You
That a starry sky offers a better view if no roof is overhead And if we never taste that bread
Oh, the differences that often are between
What we want and what we really need
So grant us peace, Jesus, grant us peace
Move our hearts to hear a single beat
Between alibis and enemies tonight
Or maybe not, not today
Peace might be another world away
And if that’s the case . . .
(Chorus)
We’ll give thanks to You
With gratitude
For lessons learned in how to trust in You
That we are blessed beyond what we could ever dream
In abundance or in need
And if You never grant us peace
But Jesus, would You please . . .

I really have liked your more recent posts, Kelly! Hope you will not hesitate to use the epidural if you need it when you give birth. Let the doctor decide. We do not have to go that far in refusing to sanitize pain out of our lives.
Civilla,
*Smile* thank you. Actually our decision to go natural doesn’t have anything to do with refusing to sanitize pain out…there are several reasons we have decided to go this route, and I’m actually pretty excited about it. I’ve certainly learned a lot about going natural that I had never considered before and I know some have very strong feelings about it…I understand where they come from now, but I’m not completely “no epidural, no way” either…if that makes sense
Sorry, “Mary”
I love this song. I bought the track many months ago, I sing at church sometimes and thought this was such a great song to worship Him with, and I’ve been waiting on Him to give the okay to share it. It reminds me of the 3 men before being thrown into the fiery furnace…I will worship Him alone, and even if things don’t go my way or I even lose my life, I will serve Him anyway.
love this song. I was inspired to search for the chords so I could learn it on the guitar but to no avail. there is a link on you tube of a girl playing it… will be a lot more work to watch her do it and try to learn it but worth it! :0)
Katie,
It’s not free–$5.95 download, but I think they’re here…http://www.free-scores.com/boutique/610-Nichole_Nordeman-digital-sheet-music.htm
wow, thanks Kelly for checking that out! I still couldn’t find it though… some day maybe. I also want to learn the song by addison road called “what do I know of holy”. Heard of it? Check out the lyrics, phenomenal! p.s. I love your scripture songs! really enjoying them.
