Our Pea-Pickin’ Enterprise
God is faithful in every way,
See it here in these peas we picked yesterday.
A friend called to tell us their crops overflowed,
So we got the free food from the seeds that they sowed.
Shellin’ peas on the porch with my children around
Most landed in place with a few on the ground.
We laughed and we talked and a few songs we sang,
Intermittently threw in a Veggie Tales refrain.
(Still don’t know what “I ‘Aint Got No Belly Button” has to do with peas *shrug*)
We talked about blessings that flow from above,
We talked about hands that work out of love.
Tonight we’ll have peas and it seems for a while,
And we’ll eat every time with our pea-pickin’ smiles.

LOVE IT!!! I’m wondering if it’s too late for me to plant some peas myself…
I have wonderful memories of just sitting and shellin’ peas
I’m a lazy gardener, I did snap peas this year so that I didn’t have to shell
Plus I figured there was less waste – trying to be ultra frugal. Speaking of which I’m heading back to check out your electricity posts again as my electric company just doubled their rates!!!
Looks like you had a lovely time – I really love the 3rd image although they all are great- I have a while to wait for my harvest memories as my peas sprouted earlier this week.

You need to submit this poem along with the photos to a magazine that focuses on families and children. These are WONDERFUL pictures – where children are happily working together in harmony!
BTW, your eldest daughter is looking more and more like a young woman everyday. She definately looks A LOT like mommy (smiles)! I bet that you are proud of her.

Those pictures are beautiful!!
I love peas, and picking/shelling them, but I REALLY LOVED the comment about the “Ain’t got no belly button” song! I helped out in the nursery at church each Wednesday while the parents did Bible study, and the kids loved that particular video.
