“God has answered”

Rejoicing that our sweet baby is finally here! I’ll post more details of my first natural labor later (when I feel like it ;-)    I woke up in labor at 3 a.m. Tuesday and spent the day at home with labor pains starting and stopping–it was quite torturous emotionally, but not too bad physically.  We headed in with much stronger contractions around 7 p.m. that night.  Quite opposite what we were expecting, I was in labor through the night and didn’t give birth until around 10 am. Wednesday morning.

We’ve gotton some rest today, but need a lot more.  Thank you SO much for your prayers…I’ll have more in a few days.

This sounds so familiar. My most recent delivery (#5) in January, my labor began at about 2 am. We loaded up to go to our birthing site (homebirth in another house) in the early morning. Contractions stayed spaced and not too strong all day; hard emotionally, but not physically. Finally picked up at about 7 pm (like with you), but I had my baby by 3 am. Longest stage of hard labor I’d had yet, but not as much as yours.

I’d forgotten this was your first drug-free labor. I’m so glad that you had a good nurse. I didn’t with my firstborn in my only hospital birth, not bad, not good, just okay. When I started to get close to transition, I got nubain. I had wanted to be drug-free, but it was hard without active encouragement, and without someone to tell me that I was getting close. Good for you in sticking to your decision when experiencing the end of labor for the first time drug-free.

Congratulations! You must be so proud, Kelly–of your daughter and of yourself. You are so, so blessed. Ah, every birth truly is such a miracle. It sounds cliched but truly it isn’t–how can it be? Birth is incredible, and so is your little girl. Be happy, my friend, and get lots of rest. My prayers are with you.
