My husband is a pastor and we serve in the SBC and just praying for direction to find a denomination more like-minded. We don't have problems doctrinally with the Southern Baptist Convention, just that we have served in a few SBC churches and have yet to find one that even comes close to having folks with like-mindedness to us. Our oldest is in the 5th grade this year, and headed to the dreaded youth group next year with her 4 younger brothers to follow in the next few years. Our youngest is 4 wks, and we are faced daily with the differences in our choices to raise our family and the possible call to action in order to "protect" our values for our family from the church, as crazy as that sounds. I agree so much with the convictions you have on family. We are just hard pressed to find an SBC church that adopts these same principles. Just curious where people like you come from because I feel like I can only read about them in blogs. Ha!

S Weaver,

We are reformed Presbyterian. Do you currently attend church now and are just looking for a church that's more like-minded?

Would you be willing to share with me what church or denomination you are a part of? Just curious as my husband and I are seeking.

I love this message.

And he's right. Until I was truly broken over my sin, I treated Jesus like a nice "accessory" to be added to my own flimsy suit of "righteousness".

I cringe now to think of the audacity of my pride. And am ever thankful for God's merciful intervention in my heart.

AWESOME!!!!!! I always read the part in the Bible where Paul asks God to take away this infirmity and God resonds with "My grace is sufficient" as this: I think it has nothing to do with physical infirmity. As one who cursed God and lived a large portion of my life in direct opposition to Him, I believe that it is the memory of the things in the past that Paul wished he could forget (he actively persued and persecuted the church). I myself have asked for things to be purged from my memory. God's response to me? "It is enough that I have chosen to purge them from mine." His grace is sufficient. And my memories serve to not hold me in the bondage of guilt, but remind me of how far God has taken me and how much further He has to go. He is awesome and perfect.
Thanks for a message all of us need to hear over and over.
