"Or am I watching to see how much respect I get as I measure how much service I should give Him?"

Yes!

The boys and I have been reading about King Saul.

http://kingjbible.com/1_samuel/15.htm

Remember the verses about obedience? (v.22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

"To obey is better than sacrifice".
Those words have such impact. What implications does that have for the Christian? If we think pragmatically about everything instead of simple, child-like obedience, then what was it Samuel said:

I Samuel 15:23
FOR REBELLION IS AS THE SIN OF WITCHCRAFT, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Wow! Chew on that for awhile! Saul thought he was doing the right thing because his ends justified his means. He, pragmatically speaking, was doing a good thing because he was sacrificing to the Lord. But in that sacrificing, he was being disobedient!

Search me O God! What area of my life am I being disobedient?!

"Am I so in love with Him that I take no thought for where He might lead me?"

Once we get to this point, we are truly trusting Him.

Beautiful. I want Him to always be tho one I am passionately in love with. One way to tell: Who/what holds the most time when you talk. What do you love to talk about the most? My husband says this: What do bankers like to talk about? Money What do golfers like to talk about? Golf What do Christians like to talk about? Money and golf. Out of the abundance of man's heart his mouth speaks. Praise Him to anyone with ears, whether they be believers or not, He is worthy!
