I love that!
so true
That is a great quote!
Great quote! I need to remember that!
Wow! That will change your perspective quickly!
Ooooh, that’s hard to swallow sometimes. Maybe it’s just me, but I find myself wanting it to be about me so many times and my attitude and actions stem from this fleshly desire for things to go my way (with four children—-the joke’s on me!) Yuck. Motherhood is so beautiful when it’s selfless, graceful, loving, etc. I fail so often! I love this quote, by the way, and will need to speak it to myself often today
! What a beautiful gift motherhood is, and God uses it to refine women in ways we would not otherwise ever be pruned to be more like Christ!
Kelly (red square), yes, it is just you. The rest of us are perfect and never fail the Lord in the task He has given us…lol. I too find myself lost in self sometimes…what a bad place to be lost!
This is an awesome quote! Reminds us of WHY we have the gifts we have.
@Kelly (green square)
…have you noticed there are a lot of Kellys hanging out around here? I think I’m perfect, too, and that’s why I have so much trouble sometimes
! We always compare our private lives with others’ public ones. Thanks Kelly (great blog!) for sharing so much wisdom with us (Kellys and non-Kellys alike.)
I don’t know if you’ve read much from Mark Driscoll… if not I’d urge you to read more. He really is a yucky guy. I think this quote is great, but it’s kinda like that proverb about a ring of gold in a swines nose. Just wanted to let you know
Amber,
I’m afraid you’d have to send me specifics…I’m very familiar with Mark Driscoll–listen to him a lot and actually love him.
I sent you an email (I hope it all went through) with those specifics. Let me know if you didn’t get it. Thanks
Word Warrior, I would really like to see the specifics that Amber was speaking about, as I have followed Mark for a few years now and have really gained respect for him. If she is referring to his early years, you might encourage her to read his biography of sorts called “confessions of a reformissional reverend” I am hoping that that is the explanation of what she is referring to, as he had no real training, and fell in with the emerging church crowd for a time.
This is an older post, but I *think* I remember her referring to some content she felt was inappropriate–references to “questionable” sexual conduct, etc. She felt he is too graphic and too coarse for a man representing the gospel.
I have my own opinions about that…I don’t always think he uses the choicest of words or topics, but I also consider that his audience his main audience requires more of an “in-your-face” approach too. I also respect him a great deal.
