Laughed ‘Til I Cried

This is possibly THE most random, irrelevant thing I’ve ever posted on Generation Cedar.  But it made me laugh so hard it’s too good not to share (thanks, Lori!)  Thought maybe you could use a laugh.

Well, OK, you will either think it’s hilarious or you won’t understand at all why I think it is.  Be sure to keep scrolling through all the posts and click “next” at the bottom–gets funnier and funnier.  There are only 3 or 4 pages.

So random, but So funny! My husband and I both laughed till we were nearly in tears! I will never look at a magazine picture again without thinking of Gary and Elaine.

  2. Oh my, I TOTALLY get why this is so funny! The one about the Wish Tree actually made me SNORT with laughter!

  3. Diane says:

“Just make yourself at home! If the sheets on the bed aren’t gray enough there are grayer ones in the drawer. And we just got the latest issue of Wallpaper magazine!”

    *guffaw*

  4. Word Warrior says:

Yep, I know about “guffaw” and “snort”. I couldn’t catch my breath on a few of ‘em.

  5. Word Warrior says:

“Hon, where’s my string of old-timey buoys?”

Priceless. She articulates the self-conscious–all these years we’ve been flipping through the pages. We *say* we’d like houses/lives like these. In reality, it’s so perfect it’s ridiculous and we know it ;-)

  6. Amy says:

hahaha…the ‘garnish the drinks’ one really got me laughing.

  7. shanie says:

i still like the ‘knew better than to interuppt gary during apple time’… i was laughing and shaking so hard reading these that a sleeping kitten actually gave up on my lap and moved to my husband… who already had our big fat cat laying on him… i tried to explain why i was laughing so hard…he said ‘thank whoever showed you that link… just what i wanted, an inexplicably cackling wife and two annoyed cats who can’t sleep’ :-)

  8. Jennifer says:

    Shanie, that’s hysterical too! :P

I totally get it, Kelly. Not at first, I wasn’t sure what it was, but caught on pretty quickly. My gosh, that wish tree, and their bedroom stuff..

  9. That is hilarious! Thanks for starting my morning with a laugh!!

  10. RaShell Southerland says:

That is so funny! I love it! Making Do and Time to Stock Up are hilarious! I needed that this morning. Thank you for posting!

  11. Ginger says:

I like to gather the kids around and make fun of catalogs with people in them. “If you had a shirt like that, you’d always be laughing.” “Life is a bunch of fun for people with swim trunks like his.” “See how many friends you could have if you just had those cool sunglasses?”
They think it’s hilarious. Of course, I really just want them to learn to see thru the marketing.

  12. Mrs. Parunak says:

I have tears streaming down my cheeks! Thank you for making my day!

  13. Oh my word. THat is such a funny site!!!

  14. Melanie says:

Oh thank you! That laugh was so much fun for the whole family!
I’m between the wish tree and the tree in the wall….snort…snort :)

  15. Kim M says:

“Elaine wasn’t about to let some hot flashes get in the way of balancing the checkbook with the abacus.”

    I love it!

  16. Mrs. Lady Sofia says:

    Kelly,

Goodness! If people really lived liked this, they would truly have BIG problems!

I liked the one about having extra shells under the table, ha! Why would ANYONE keep extra shells under the table in order to “rotate” the “old shells” on the top of the table? Also, the one about their q-tip canister needing to be “filled” because it was lacking 1/5th of q-tips in a jar? Really now! Give me a break! :) Lastly, who could forget the “death tree?” That was truly “special,” NOT! Ha! :)

Thanks for showing and sharing these ridiculous photos with comments with us. I got quite a few chuckles out of them. :)

Oh my goodness! My husband and I were almost rolling on the floor…I was definitely crying. So funny!

  18. KTHunter says:

Thank you so much for brightening my day with that link. I love the passive-aggressive garnish and the back-up hat. Oooooooooh, too funny (*wipes tears from eyes*)

  19. Jamie says:

Thanks for the laugh Kelly. I loved the one about the Q-tip canister.

  20. Kristen says:

Very very funny! Loved the monogrammed towels one!

  21. Becky says:

My favorites are definitely the “Wallpaper magazine” post and the q-tip one. Very funny!!!

  22. Kelly L says:

LOVED IT…wish it was older so I could have wasted, I mean spent, more time looking at it! As my day was, I am glad there were only 4 pages…I was rushed enough!

  23. Jennifer says:

Happy Independence Day and please be sure to watch/rent the classic film 1776. You want a great family film? This is an adorable, witty, hilarious musical based on the writing and signing of the Independence Proclamation, the lives and wit of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and their devoted wives, and charming ‘ol Benjamin Franklin. Please watch!

  24. Jeree B says:

So hilarious, and what a great idea! Thanks for linking to it. The watermelon garnish one was my favorite.

  25. Ann says:

Almost missed this post – just hilarious! Wonder if she will do overstyled home magazine covers (or even blog posts!) as well as catalogues. I’m thinking of old iron beds piled with white pillows in the middle of farm paddocks… ‘Elaine needed to count sheep to get to sleep, so had Gary haul their bed outside.’ I will probably be doing this with every magazine cover I see from now onwards! Thanks for sharing this.

  26. Jenny Straight says:

“grayer ones in the drawer”!!!! My kids are all staring at me like I’m crazy and asking me why this is funny. I can’t even talk I’m laughing so hard. Maybe a little of the sleep deprivation kicking in too, but whatever it is, the baby on my lap stopped fussing and is intently watching me, and my home’s mood is much lighter! Thank you, thank you, Kelly, for this today!

  27. Word Warrior says:

    Jenny,

So glad to help! I can relate–I’m gasping for breath and the kids are like, “What is wrong with you?”

  28. Sarah says:

That was great! Thanks for sharing. :~)

  29. That is sooo funny! I was wiping tears! Thanks for sharing!

  30. That was really funny. I had to leave it last night and continue this morning so I had two days of chuckles. Thanks for sharing.
