My husband is a busy guy so he doesn’t have as much time for reading as he would like. And, he’s not a natural, reading enthusiast anyway. But when we received For You They Signed and Life of Washington in the mail, he sat down and became instantly engrossed. He called to me from the living room,
“Kel, these books are awesome! We’re going to read them at night and you won’t have to teach History for awhile!”

Christian Liberty Press has a good biography of Washington. He was married(vows/ceremony) before marriage licences were required. Marriages were recorded in the family Bible.
These books sound wonderful – what a great addition to our history curriculum! We are studying American History this year. We use Sonlight and they also do a good job of presenting history as it happened rather that scrubbing it of all references to faith and morality in public life.

About the books…we too are studying early American history this year. These would be great for my husband to read aloud in the evening and winning them would fit right into our budget!

Over the last few years, our family has been reading about these men that purposed to build our nation with the Lord as its foundation. However, we had not come across these books! I was just reading to my boys this morning about the writing of The Declaration of Independence.Thomas Jefferson wrote almost every word of it. He was called the “Pen of the Revolution”. We also read how John Hancock, (the president of the congress) was the first to sign it and that Patrick Henry was the great speaker that said, “Give me liberty or give me death!” I love history!

these are great resources – you can use “For You They Signed” as history or devotionals (or both); “Life of Washington” is an excellent historical reference – both the book about the Father of Our Country and as a look back at how books used to be written
