It may be that nothing has ever convicted me yet inspired me to love my husband more than these brief words from country music singer Rory Feek at his wife’s funeral. (If you haven’t followed the story of Joey’s fight with cancer, though it is sad, it is powerful and beautiful, their unwavering faith chronicled throughout their fight. You should really click on that link.)
But as I listened to Rory describe the love of his wife, I marveled that I, too, have been graciously 1 Corinthians-loved by a man who is patient and kind and keeps no record of wrongs. And I have to look no further than right here in my own home to learn how to love, and that I have taken that for granted so many times, and I don’t want to anymore.
I wanted to share the clip with you because the message is other-worldly and life changing, and I’m sure that Joey’s death, because of her fierce love and trust in the Savior, (and just because it’s been so public) has brought about more change in this world than her life did.
