Rory Feek and the Beautiful Power of Love When God Writes Your Story

It may be that nothing has ever convicted me yet inspired me to love my husband more than these brief words from country music singer Rory Feek at his wife’s funeral. (If you haven’t followed the story of Joey’s fight with cancer, though it is sad, it is powerful and beautiful, their unwavering faith chronicled throughout their fight. You should really click on that link.)

But as I listened to Rory describe the love of his wife, I marveled that I, too, have been graciously 1 Corinthians-loved by a man who is patient and kind and keeps no record of wrongs. And I have to look no further than right here in my own home to learn how to love, and that I have taken that for granted so many times, and I don’t want to anymore.

I wanted to share the clip with you because the message is other-worldly and life changing, and I’m sure that Joey’s death, because of her fierce love and trust in the¬†Savior, (and just because it’s been so public) has brought about more change in this world than her life did.

This is the most precious love story I have ever followed. I had never heard of them until I saw someone post PRAY for JOEY. I started reading their blog and it was a tear jerker read. They showed more love than anyone I have ever seen. Their singing of gospel songs was my favorite. What beautiful voices. I so wanted to see Joey get her healing on earth but GOD had other plans. HE knows what is best.

Thanks for encouraging your readers to pay attention. I have sort of avoided story because it was painful, but after watching this, I think it’s worth it to sit here and cry.

    • I know Kim, I’ve had the same reaction, only taking peeks here and there as I thought I could handle it. But this was encouraging to me, and that’s when I decided to share it.

    Beautiful Kelly, thanks for sharing!

  4. I love the fact that Joey’s father believed in Jesus a few months before she died!
