Nothing can tempt me into profane language more than running headlong into a socialist situation – some days it is everywhere I turn. Take for example the ideological term that the medical society likes to use during flu shot season: ‘immunizing the herd’. This is to imply that the more individuals in the ‘herd’ that receive the flu shot the safer the ‘herd’ as a whole should be. This can be how a socialist views society, as well. The more members of society (the herd) comply with the government’s decisions, the better off society (the herd) will be – and those among society (the herd) who do not comply will simply be out numbered and forced to live in government rule regardless. Socialists are sneaky, too. They permeate society slowly, in order to avoid civil unrest at the loss of personal freedoms and it is very much part of society now, even if we see ourselves as democratic. Canada is swamped in it, the U.S. is well on its way.

What is socialism? Websters defines this way:

1. any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

2a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property

b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

If you look up national socialism the definition is more to the point: nazism.

Boil it down to how it plays out in reality and we have the government actively training generations of citizens to stop thinking for themselves; to stop getting involved in each others lives; to stop believing diligent work is how to live; to stop taking responsibility for our own lives and choices and simply allow the government to ‘take care of us’. What does God say about those who refuse to work for themselves:

Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. Proverbs 12:24 (we become slaves to our ‘provider’)

The sluggard’s craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work. Proverbs 21:25 (a sluggard learns to live off of hand outs)

Socialism is the means to which “democratic” political parties seek to build power. Even politicians who see themselves as conservative recognize that by building the peoples’ reliance on the government handout generates future votes. How does this work? For years the Canadian government has given away ‘free’ money to arts programs, parades for special interest groups, general welfare programs. Grants for ‘this’ cause and funding for ‘that’ cause. Today, it is seen as a person’s right to access the free money for their personal needs. Really, why work for a living when the government will pay the rent, pay for medications and groceries and still have enough left over for beer and cigarettes? How does a society become so lazy, so self serving?

The government has two very strong tools available to continually perpetuate the attitude. First, public schools. Here is how Adolf Hitler looked at public education. See any similarities?

• When an opponent declares, ‘I will not come over to your side,’ I say calmly, ‘Your child belongs to us already. What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing but this new community’ .

The government also has the media at its disposal. The media in North America constantly breeds a socialist attitude in the slant of its stories. Again, Hitler has a quote that matches:

• Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it. (think global warming or evolution)

The title of ‘expert’ is used freely by the media (and government) when wanting to push an idea on the public. By finding even one ‘expert’ to back an idea, the public can hear that idea repeatedly and learn not to question the expert. This ‘expert’ word is used as though it means omniscient – to the point where the public come to say things like: “if the experts say [this], then it must be true”; or how about “if Children’s Aid [CAS]is investigating that family, they must be guilty”. Honestly, how many of us think this way without notice anymore?

From multiple bylaws telling us what we can do with our own properties (just try building a shed without a permit), to how we are ‘allowed’ to raise our children (teacher federations and CAS may want to talk with you), to what we are to do with our garbage or car use in order to stop climate change (you don’t still use plastic bags do you?!), the ‘experts’ have made decisions for us.

Now I am not suggesting that the idea behind our laws is wrong, i.e. it is good to where a seat belt, it is good to make wise decisions about garbage/pollution, it is good to avoid smoking in a vehicle with children present, it is good to wear a helmet for bike riding and motorcycles…but the point is, I don’t need someone else making a law to tell me to do the thinking for me. Socialism is what is killing common sense. Socialism is replacing common sense with policy and procedure.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for socialism – at least in my country. The topic can continue with the damage caused by socialized medicine, socialism in parenting, socialism in taxes (oh, let’s not forget the price of it all!) and even socialism in our churches. However, the bottom line is always the same – the government ruling over every aspect of our lives and taking our money to pay for it. You don’t have to agree with it, but we’re still in the middle of it. (Americans should be aware of their president’s recent deal with the U.N. over gun control)

How do we fight socialism? Question everything! Think for yourself! Study and research important issues that affect you and your family and stand up for what you believe – not what you are told to believe. That doesn’t mean you will disagree with the idea in the end, but at least you will be confident and responsible for your decision to either follow or go the other direction.

By the way…God is not a socialist:

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

What I want to fix your attention on is the vast, overall movement towards the discrediting, and finally the elimination, of every kind of human excellence – moral, cultural, social, or intellectual. And is it not pretty to notice how “democracy” (in the incantatory sense) is now doing for us the work that was once done by the most ancient Dictatorships, and by the same methods?

You remember how one of the Greek Dictators (they called them “tyrants” then) sent an envoy to another Dictator to ask his advice about the principles of government. The second Dictator led the envoy into a field of grain, and there he snicked off with his cane the top of every stalk that rose an inch or so above the general level.

The moral was plain. Allow no preeminence among your subjects. Let no man live who is wiser or better or more famous or even handsomer than the mass. Cut them all down to a level: all slaves, all ciphers, all nobodies. All equals.Thus Tyrants could practise, in a sense, “democracy.” But now “democracy” can do the same work without any tyranny other than her own. No one need now go through the field with a cane. The little stalks will now of themselves bite the tops off the big ones. The big ones are beginning to bite off their own in their desire to Be Like Stalks.”

Teach it to your children…

Family and marriage are institutions designed by God–they are not man-made.  Perhaps then, we shouldn’t be surprised that the family is becoming an enemy. Who would have ever believed there would come a time when society would be hostile to what has always been considered the basic unit of its existence?  It is why I think feminism has had the most damaging impact on our culture…because at the core, it seeks to separate family…with destruction as a result.

We have slid down a slippery slope and arrived at the belief that the basic unit of society is the INDIVIDUAL.  (Think about it for a minute…look at all the ways families are divided and the expectations that is should be so…even within the church.)  And when that is believed, the individual is very quickly lost in the state.

“Dr. Carle C. Zimmerman, Harvard University spent his life studying the history of the family.  He has pointed out the family’s significance:  that whenever the atomistic (separate, unrelated members) family develops, in which the authority of the father is no longer paramount, then there is a very quick disintegration of society, the total state takes over, and there is a radical collapse of civilization…..

With the development of the atomistic family–which is really no family at all–the home is simply a place to room and board while the state takes over the role as father–to take care of the family in its every need, providing for the children and the parents; the family no longer cares for itself; civilization collapses. ” -R.J. (By the way, this paradigm does not exclude the rare single men and women not called to marriage;  all still belong to a family and have a major importance in that role.)

Listen to  Zimmerman’s conclusions:

He believed…

“..that a fundamental purpose of civilization is the empowerment and enabling of the family — and is absolutely key to the health of any civilization. … Nobody undertakes to have a large family because it’s fun, or, in advanced societies, because it’s economically beneficial. They do it because they believe that’s what people do. In other words, they believe that children are a blessing from God, and that we humans are participating in the divine will by begetting children and raising them up to carry on our civilization….

Mankind has consumed not only the crop, but the seed for the next planting as well. Whatever may be our Pollyanna inclination, this fact cannot be avoided. Under any assumptions, the implications will be far-reaching for the future not only of the family but of our civilization as well. The question is no longer a moral one; it is social.”

Building the family is the only option for surviving–slice it any way you like, our ideals and personal opinions won’t erase factual reality.

Our nation stands on the brink of becoming something entirely different than we’ve ever known.  I found the following article quite timely in regard to the topic at hand:

“In the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, I was taught to believe individual pursuits are selfish and sacrificing for the collective good is noble. In kindergarten we sang songs about Lenin, the leader of the Socialist Revolution.

In school we learned about the beautiful socialist system, where everybody is equal and everything is fair; about ugly capitalism, where people are exploited and treat each other like wolves in the wilderness.

Life in the USSR modeled the socialist ideal. God-based religion was suppressed and replaced with cultlike adoration for political figures.”

“One of the mantras we hear repeatedly these days is, “we don’t want socialism.”  While that sounds good (and conservative, and constitutional, and patriotic, etc.), it rings hollow when you consider the overwhelming majority of the people leading the charge have their children in what amounts to socialized education.  What’s the difference?  If you’re really against government-run, socialized programs, yank your kid off the yellow prison bus and just say no.”

Sunday, Joel McDurmon, with American Vision stated those sentiments more eloquently in a message he spoke at our church.  What’s better, he concluded with an encouraging word to believers:

“The sin-gripped heart lives and breathes in a cloud of its own delusion, in which it exhibits all the functions of the Image of God which it bears—it worships, it gets outraged over moral issues, it preaches, it evangelizes for its cause, it cares about knowledge and order—yet it directs these functions toward an untenable false god (some aspect of creation) instead of the true Creator. The worship of this false god—be it that of another religion, or man himself—consumes all that fallen man does, and in the end all the failures of that false god manifest as the failures of the sinners who followed it. That is, to the extent that men worship a corrupt god, to that extent their lives, families, and societies will grow corrupt. And the more they grow corrupt, the more they worship their idols, and the whole process compounds upon itself.

This process, of God abandoning sinners to fill up the measure of their own sinfulness, rarely gets talked about, but it appears all through Scripture. It is one of God’s specific ways of sending judgment upon a people: removing His restraints from a society and allowing that society to have the full measure of the sins they so badly lust for; and the ensuing self-destruction of that people as they devour one another and cannibalize themselves, stands as a testimony to God’s truth as the only salvation for mankind….

The sins of a people (even of individuals) become the method through which God judges that nation unto its own self-destruction. When a nation, even of many professing Christians, elects to educate its children through godless, unbiblical means, that very means becomes the method of driving that generation and its future inheritors further into destruction. When a culture adopts abortion and other family planning measures in order limit and even cancel the growth of families, God judges that nation through that medium and thus destroys its inheritance and continuance into the future….

When a culture denies just weights and measures, God will abandon them to that injustice, and that very tool will run their measures of food and shelter and meaningful work empty. When a culture looks to government to be its benefactor and savior, God will give them their government in all its glory and power to be their savior, and they will all go down together. When a culture attacks everything godly about families and freedom, God will abandon them to a rootless, loveless, tyrannical end.

As people who abhor these very idols, who pray for deliverance, who cry out about the evils around us, who do everything we can to preserve a godly family and society, and yet watch all of it slowly slip away around us due to the lusts of our countrymen and the heart-idols of many of our religious peers, we tend to lose heart….

The question is not whether we can stop it; the question is whether we can be the Ezekiel and the faithful that shall remain after it dies and decays away. Because the ultimate goal of such judgments is to separate the sheep from the goats. To destroy the deluded and gather God’s people unto Him. This is how Ezekiel concludes in verse 11: he intends to punish the false prophets and idolatrous in order that the house of Israel may no longer stray from Me and no longer defile themselves with all their transgressions. Thus they will be My people, and I shall be their God.

It’s a good time to have babies, to join together in churches that support godly causes. It’s a good time to be productive and wise. If you can’t have a big family, the church is your big family; support it in every way you can, and defend her purity and peace. These are basic, simple measures that will keep us gathered to God as the God Delusion leads his enemies to cannibalize themselves; and the meek shall inherit the earth, and the righteous shall have the kingdom of heaven. “
