Call to Action

If you’re eager to put the “What Can I Do” post into action, here’s your chance.

Obama nominates pro-abortion, pro-p*rn lawyer for #2 position in the office of Attorney General

Your phone calls are needed! The link above provides the same number as the earlier post, giving you direct access to your Senators. Just tell them you want them to oppose the Ogden nomination.

Thank you, Truth Seeker, for sending this!!! This was an ad REJECTED by NBC for a slot in the Superbowl.

Overpopulation and Environmental Lies

A reader (thank you Beth) sent me a link to the article “Two Children Should Be Limit” which made me nauseated to read it, and then angry to ponder. It’s difficult to “rope my thoughts together” cohesively because there is so much foolishness in this way of thinking, and so many ways to refute it.

This man suggests it is better to kill people (either by abortion or less medical treatment) than to damage trees. And the worst part is, his perception of the problem isn’t even real! The world is not dying because of people in it. By the way, there is no stopping this tide of destruction once we hop on that train. If abortion is considered “better” for the environment, then any life killed is better. It is nothing short of madness.

I also noticed a commenter brought up the fact that the author doesn’t acknowledge the UK’s biggest population problem–immigration.

Frankly, I need no scientific evidence to convince me that the overpopulation scare is a complete myth.

Why? Because the Creator, One who knows a lot more about carbon footprints than we do, said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth”…and He didn’t give us a number limit on that “filling”. Then He laid out simple instructions about how to best provide for ourselves and promised that He would supply every need to those who love Him and call upon Him. End of story.

If you want to get upset about real problems with the economy or food supply or other threats you feel are imminent, blame what is to blame. The presence of people on earth is not the problem; the forsaking of basic common sense in our daily lives and the rejection of the principles of God is a much bigger threat.

However, if you need the evidence, there is plenty. The article below, written in 2003, is just one source I found of documented studies that provide compelling evidence against this insane idea. Do we just believe everything that the media spits out?

I keep wondering, what is the underlying force of this theory? There is something else, deeper and more evil propelling the idea that humans are a threat to the very place created for them. Isn’t it interesting how everything in Scripture points to life, while the world’s “wisdom” is full of death?

And one more time, I beg the Christian body to think carefully about the issue of life. In the article above, the author holds birth control and abortion in the same hand for the same purpose. We must approach it as a very slippery slope.

How sad and scary it must be to live a life without the knowledge of God and His supreme control over the universe!

The Overpopulation Myth

Should He Have Been Aborted?

Starkly contrasted against the backdrop of our culture of death, is a remarkable, unbelievable story–a breath of fresh air.

I saw the movie years ago, and yesterday, we started reading the book May’s Boy again. If you’ve not read it, DO. It is hands-down the most inspiring and miraculous story I’ve ever heard.

May received a call in 1952 about a boy given up for adoption because of his severe defects, and no one would take him. He was already sentenced to death with severe glaucoma, mental retardation and cerebral palsy (later he would be diagnosed with autism as well). The doctors had to remove his eyes and he was given the prognosis of a “vegetable” if he did miraculously survive.

May named him Leslie. She said every child was a gift and deserved someone to love him. She poured her life into him. And what’s more, she never gave up despite virtually no sign of hope for the first seven years. He lay lifeless with only a heart beat for those years.

Once she saw him move, she decided to strap him to her back and drag him around so he could feel her walk. She never thought he actually would learn. He stood for the first time at age fifteen, and soon began walking.

Then one night she woke to hear what she thought was the tv left on with a piano concerto being played. It was Leslie. Not only was he playing concert-level pieces perfectly, but also singing in the most beautiful baritone voice. He had never yet spoken a word, and could barely hold his cup.

May had prayed one simple prayer for Leslie all his life: “Lord, remember to do something for Leslie.” More than what He did for Leslie was what he did for thousands who still see Leslie and know that God is God.

Her amazing love for “the least of these” laughs in the face of “intelligent reasons for abortion”. Every time I hear someone sing a sad song about babies who are better off aborted, I think of Leslie, and others like him.

There was one woman who loved God more than her own life, lost her life to save it, never gave up, and who saw even a lifeless human form as a gift from God.

(BTW, if “defects” were an appropriate gauge of who should live or die, Beethoven would have been aborted, along with a list a half mile long. God doesn’t make mistakes, and His purposes often blow our theories out of the water. We sorely miss the mark when we assert our “reasoning” over the divine sacredness of life. There is never a reason to kill an innocent human.)

Here’s May and Leslie:

Japanese Urged to "Go Home & Multiply"….America’s Hair-Brained Plans to Increase Contraception Funding

(Warning: Fire extinguisher may be needed.)

In an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., defended huge sums of money for “family planning services” tucked into President Obama’s proposed economic stimulus package, claiming contraception will reduce government costs.

“…contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.”

“So no apologies for that?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“No apologies,” Pelosi answered. “No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.”

Does anyone else feel like jumping up and down and screaming “You people have lost your minds!”

Because here’s the thing….they’ve had plenty of chance to prove that “contraception reduces things”…as they’ve tried to convince us it reduces number of abortions. Statistics clearly show it has NOT reduced but increased the number of abortions. Guess what? That costs money–OUR money and the government’s money.

And I find it very interesting that no one is talking about the millions of dollars being spent on health care due to the adverse effects of artificial birth control on a woman’s body–increased cancers of every kind, depression meds, etc.

Now she suggests that “fewer children is better for the economy”. Um, Mrs. Pelosi, how about fewer cars, smaller houses, fewer vacations, fewer entertainment splurges, fewer house keepers, fewer $40 fingernail indulgences (sorry if you get your nails done–speaking generally, here ;-) , fewer beauty supplies, fewer convenience foods, fewer divorces, fewer officials flying all over the place for million-dollar “conferences”–how about Americans who actually start living within their means?

And I realize most of those are personal expenses, but it’s all mixed together. There’s a whole list the government could use–it’s all the same on a personal level or national…we’ve consistently spent far more money than we have. And the government pumps money into all sorts of areas where they have no business.

Do we really want to fix the economy? We could start by reducing the number of households. Why don’t we introduce a proposal that actually holds couples to the “til death do us part” vows they make in a social contract between families and a covenant before God (provided there is not REAL reason for divorce)?

Or increase funding for Thrift Store advertising to limit the outrageous clothing budgets families have? If children are expensive, it’s our fault, not theirs.

We could fund advertisement for “spend what you make” campaigns and aim to put credit card companies out of business.

These are partly tongue-in-cheek, but my gracious, if we’re going to throw money at anything, at least throw it at something that might make a slight difference!

Here’s an even better idea–why don’t we tell the government to keep their sticky fingers out of our lives-including our pockets for funding absurd programs that a third-grader could see do not work!

Yes, I’m a little steamed. Read the whole report HERE.

By the way, the story below is highly ironic in light of our “brilliant American plans”….

“Japan is in the midst of an unprecedented recession, so corporations are being asked to work toward fixing another major problem: the country’s low birthrate.”

Urged to “Go Home and Multiply”

(By the way, for the naysayers of “Demographic Winter”, you may want to rethink your position after reading this article.)

Strike the Root:: Individual Responsibility, Not Group Rights

This timely article I quoted from simply and brilliantly explains the largest problem of society in respect to these “political” issues we’ve been discussing. Its primary focus is abortion, but the concept carries over to any issue.

Consider these thoughts about individual responsibility vs. individual rights:

“Libertarians should realize that there are no group rights. There are no men’s or women’s rights, no black or white rights or any other group rights. Abortion is based on the false collectivist assumption that there are group rights, specifically women’s rights in this case. Collectivist rights are tools of the state, and have been used to justify the state’s murder, theft, genocide, torture, and other atrocities down through the ages. Collectivist rights always emphasize the rights of the group over the individual, and absolve the group of individual responsibility–no wonder they are favorite tools of the state. There are only individuals and individual rights and responsibilities. Though all individuals are unique, there are no unique individual rights, especially ones that allow individuals to violate the rights of others.

The article discusses the misunderstanding of “rights”, particularly how it relates to abortion. It goes on to say:

“The whole pro-abortion property rights doctrine is actually quite frightening, and if taken to its logical conclusion, would allow all kinds of abhorrent behavior, and shows how rights can be confused with illegitimate acts. If applied consistently, and without exceptions, it would result in only real estate property owners having rights, and only when they were on their own real estate property. This would allow cannibalism, slavery, murder, and any other evil as a right, and would allow each person to be a law unto themselves on their property.”

Ironic, isn’t it, that the first black president, would be propagating such oppression as his ancestors were freed from:

“Abortion today is similar to the issue of slavery that was wrongly institutionalized and legalized by the Constitution at the founding of the US . Slavery was presented as a rights issue, with the rights of the property owners overriding the rights of slaves to be treated as human beings. Slaves were denied their basic human rights, with slave owners allowed to act irresponsibly toward slaves and even harm or kill them as they saw fit. Slavery was a disgrace that made a mockery of the Declaration of Independence, that all men are created equal, are endowed with inalienable rights, and was a blow of tyranny against freedom. Today abortion continues this reprehensible tradition of the weak being victimized by the strong, with the rule of the jungle replacing the rule of law.”

Is it that we no longer know how to think, or that we just don’t want to?
